While this may take longer, it allows the meat to thaw at a slower and safer rate. An alternative to the refrigerator is immersing the package into a sink full of cold water.

5. Don’t refreeze food unless it’s been cooked: If you thaw meat, it shouldn’t be refrozen unless it’s been cooked first.
